Trying to install Firefox on MacOS Catalina but it keeps getting stuck at "Preparing to copy to "Applications."
I have installed Firefox before and I don't recall ever having this issue. I have tried rebooting my computer, doing a clean uninstall and install of Firefox, trashing Mozilla's cache folder, and attempting to install Firefox multiple times but every time I drag Firefox into the Applications folder it gets stuck at "Preparing to copy to "Applications." Every.. single... time.
I am using MacOS Catalina.
I would really appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks! :)

This issue was resolved by updating my computer to macOS Catalina 10.15.2. Although when this issue first started happening, I remember specifically checking to see if there were any system updates available and there were none. I guess the update wasn't available yet.

Hello Francesca,
I had this once in my client's computer. But he could solve this issue by restoring backup.
Hope someone will help you with detailed guide.
Regards.
Do you have any other Firefox application installed ?
If that is the case then drag the other Firefox application to the Trash and see whether that allows to store the new Firefox application.
@cor-el no I don’t have Firefox installed
Did you try to reboot the computer to verify whether Firefox got installed or that it failed in case this is merely a problem with the message not getting away ?
@cor-el - Thank you for your response. I have tried rebooting my computer several times to see if Firefox would eventually install correctly but it never does.
When I am trying to install Firefox, in the Applications folder it shows Firefox as grayed out and doesn't display the Firefox logo. I am away from my home computer right now but when I get home, I will try to take a screenshot of what I am talking about and attach it to this ticket.
Also, in a better response to the question you asked prior, I do not have any other version of Firefox installed on my computer. I trashed my original Firefox application and even trashed the Mozilla folder in my Library on my computer.

Below I have attached a screenshot of what Firefox looks like in my Applications folder after I rebooted my computer. I tried double-clicking on Firefox but it doesn't do anything. I can trash the Firefox application but that is about it. Strange.
Modified
The screenshot shows the Firefox App with zero bytes content, so it looks that something went wrong with moving Firefox to the applications folder.
Maybe do some maintenance to see whether that can remove this Firefox entry.
