In Thunderbird 68.3.1 (64-bit) Mac, I can no longer change font colors. I have made no changes to the configuration of the program and this font color issue only started with this latest release of Thunderbird.

Steps (as I've always done): 1. I highlight the regular text in the text body, 2. click to change color, 3. select the color, 4. click "OK",

.... but the color stays black.

Have tried different fonts, etc..

This problem did not exist in the previous version.

Please help!

Thanks,

The work around is given to close the mac color picker before you close Thunderbirds.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:

  • Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.

Nope, even in save mode, I still cannot change text colors.

Should I post a video demonstrating the issue?

Thanks,

Below is an image showing the steps to try to change the font color.

Not only does trying to change the font color fail, but if I go back and open an old email, edit it, and resend it, then the colors that were in that email are now lost (reply colors). The whole email is now black text only.

What the heck???

Hope this additional info helps.

I can easily reproduce this problem on two Mac computers.

One Mac computer is running 10.14. One Mac computer is running 10.15.

The old version of TB works.

But 68.3.1 does not let me change font colors.

Does anybody know if there is already an update to the question above. Still encountering this problem with Thunderbird 68.3.1 and OS X El Capitan v. 10.11.6. Thank you for your support!

I posted a video of the problem and even submitted a bugzilla report. That bug had already been reported but was as of a couple days ago "UNVERIFIED". Jeeez.

I've moved to mac mail for the time being.

Doesn't anyone test this stuff?

So what is the link the the bug report. I have looked and can't find one Unverified is not a status, unconfirmed is. All new bug go to a status of unconfirmed as unless someone else can reproduce it, it is not considered a new bug.

If you posted a video, where is the link to it? I don't see that in this topic either.

Now lets get real. You opened this topic just before Christmas (December 20) , and it is now new years day. Just what did you expect to happen in that part of the year really. Mot volunteers have families that monopolize their time around Christmas.

As for testing this stuff, apple users represent about 10% of Thunderbird users. I don't know id the releaseQA have a apple volunteer. Perhaps you could help them out with that.

This support form does not have a regular contributor that uses apple. I certainly don't. Why apple folk pay a premium for junk made in china Vs non apple junk made in China I have no idea. But I will not be joining them. So if you feel a little alone, that is probably because you are.

I can NOT change colors of type fonts, words, etc. Same problem everyone speaks of ... and I see/try the suggestions ... but obviously by the entries here ... there is no "fix" that works.

Sooo, what the H... is the problem with Mozilla, that they do NOT fix this simple and most fun/important matter???

so much fun and functionality is gone!! What for? and WHY do they not fix this "NO CHARM" HEADACHE!!

I've reproduced this problem now on three computers. Two with MacOS 10.15.2 and one with 10.14.6. I love TB and have used it for almost 20 years. I hope they fix this soon.

I have this problem (similar) - I can't change my font size since I updated. (Sorry, I don't have a Mac but I can't change my font size in a message now other than what I've selected as my default size)

I think I have already said how to fix it. This being the second person posting a me to without reading, I will mark this as solved and lock it.
