Firefox stopped working in Catalina 10.15.2

more options

I updated my Mac recently to Catalina 10.15.2 and Firefox has not worked properly since. I am unable to type in a Url as anything I type does not show up. I can't click on any of the buttons in the app or that are at the top of the screen to let me access menus for the app. The close tab button does not work. And the app also thinks it is in full screen mode but it is not.

I am unable to do much with the browser since. Clicking on anything within the browser does nothing so I cannot restart the app in safe mode or try any of the other recommended fixes.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, that did not fix the issue. I also turned my Mac on and off again and this also did not help.

I am using version 71.0 of Firefox if that makes a difference. Is there anything else I could try? Thank you

Did you drag the current Firefox installation to the Trash and installed a freshly downloaded Firefox version ? You can check for issues with the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist). Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist) In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the "~/Library" folder in the Home directory is a hidden folder.

Yes I did drag it into the trash to uninstall Firefox and I downloaded and installed the Firefox app.

However, I was able to solve the problem after shutting off my Mac and turning it back on instead of simply restarting it. Then starting Firefox in safe mode.

Thank you for your help.
