How to view bookmarks in a tab like in Chrome?
Until recently it was possible by opening chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul and it was glitchy when it came to bookmark manipulation, but at least I could view the bookmarks... After today's update that URL leads to nowhere. Any other methods?

Well, xul is already gone. Try to replace xul with xhtml.

Thanks it worked! This is offtopic now but is it normal that it is glitchy and I can't manipulate my bookmarks from there? Can't create folders, can't move around the bookmarks, delete them. Right off the bat it might work but after a few operations it becomes basically read-only. I'm not even sure how to name a new topic here about this if I am to create it

Ok, actually this is relevant for managing bookmarks from the bookmarks toolbar as well. I'll create a separate topic.
If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync temporarily during troubleshooting.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.
- use "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page
If errors are reported with "Verify Integrity", close and restart Firefox and retry.
If "Verify Integrity" cannot repair places.sqlite, rename/remove all places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
- keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Thank you but doesn't look like it did something for me. Both integrity verification and deletion of places and favicons. I have sync on but I unsynced bookmarks and everything beforehand.
However it looks like I've somewhat pinned down the problem here. The tab chrome://browser/content/places/places.xhtml and apparently bookmarks in general become inoperable once I try to create a new folder from the tab The steps are: 1) launch Firefox, 2) switch to the tab with places.xhtml , 3) click on "bookmarks toolbar" or "bookmarks menu" in the sidebar, 4) right mouse click "New folder" in the bookmarks panel 5) nothing happens, all bookmarks are locked now.
In the past this happened even without the dedicated tab, just by messing with the bookmarks via the bookmarks toolbar. And yes this is an old story for me, been happening probably for more than a year now ps: I can make a screen capture video if it'll be of any help

I can reproduce this issue. Well, I think that we should file a bug.
