Whenever my computer is restarted and firefox opens and restores my previous tabs, it always loads another new tab with some youtube channel. I'm sure its not the youtube channel doing it, but it is very annoying. Ive even reset my entire history of firefox, but its still happening, despite it not being bookmarked.

Chosen solution

After exiting Firefox through the menu and restarting the browser it is no longer doing it.

Thank you for the help. I still don't know what the cause was but I'm pretty satisfied with a solution.

That's odd!

If you test your home page setting by using Ctrl+N to open a new window, does that show the unwanted tab? If so: How to set the home page.

Does that tab have any Back button history that might show it being a redirect from somewhere else?

Does this only happen when you start Firefox with Windows? In other words, if you use Exit from the menu -- either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Exit
  • (menu bar) File > Exit

-- and then start Firefox, does it still happen?

If you start Firefox using the Windows Start menu instead of a desktop shortcut, is there any difference (desktop shortcuts can be modified by adding URLs to them)?

Note that this could have been a problem with sessionstore.jsonlz4 in the profile folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
