Developer Tools Can't Open Links in Background Tab

more options

Summary: Opening a file from the Network Developer Tools tab will always become the foreground tab.

Details:

  • Firefox version: 77.0.1 (64-bit)
  • OS Version: 10.15.4 (19E287)

I'm using the Developer Tools Network tab, and would like to quickly view the sources of multiple files. When you right click a file's URL you can Open In New Tab, but it will not open as a background tab. No combination of keys will do it, it should just be command+click.

Reproduction:

  1. Visit any website
  2. Press ⌘⌥E to open Network tab
  3. Reload page
  4. Right click anything in the File column
  5. File opens in new active tab no matter what

Hello, karl

Firstly, middle-click or control-click > Open Link in New Tab should still work.

Hope it helps you.

Hello karl,

Please read this instruction

I've tested this on Gmail, and I can confirm your issue, so I did some searching in Mozilla's public bug database. There is one filed 5 months ago, and it was determined to be a Google issue. They reached out to Google, who responded that "Our QA team can reproduce, we're tracking this internally..."

For now, middle-click or control-click > Open Link in New Tab should still work.

I hope resolve your problem then reply me back

Thank you.
