I'm not normally a Firefox user, but need to use it for a particular resource. I'm used to having at least 2 windows open, one for reading documents/emails and another for pasting articles, etc. into an email. I found the Firefox icons for copying & pasting, but when I copy material from one window -- in this case, a PDF document--, I'm unable to paste it into an email in another window. What do I do?

Sometimes, the format can give you issues when doing that. Try this: Copy the text and Paste it into a 'Word' type editor. Then Copy from 'Word' to wherever.

What happens when you paste into the email -- do you get nothing, or the previous thing you copied instead of the latest thing, or something else?

Does it help to "paste as plain text" using the Ctrl+Shift+v shortcut?

Firefox's built-in PDF viewer uses a layer of transparent text for searching and selection purposes. This text is positioned as closely as possible on "top" of (or in front of, depending on how you think about it) an image of the page. Due to the way this is done, the text may paste poorly, with weird line/paragraph breaks or missing spaces. Are you running into problems caused by that?
