Hello,

I'm having a little bit of trouble configuring the default IMAP folders, some of them are translated into my language (Dutch) and some of them are not 'Spam', 'Sent Items'. When i test this email address on my smartphone with the 'Samsung mail' client all of the default folders are translated in my own language.

I don't know how i can fix this in Thunderbird because it seems like i can't edit the name of the folders anywhere. And i've also tried to create other maps at my email provider and it says the folder names (written in my language) is already taken. Maybe the Dutch language pack in Thunderbird needs a fix or maybe the devs can implement some sort of local 'Display Name' on the default folders so anyone with an issue like this can give it a different name locally on the PC.

Can anyone help me with this?

I'm not a Dutch user, but if the names are in Dutch on the mail server, those same names should appear when you subscribe them. If you right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe, Refresh, are the names all in Dutch?

No, the web portal of the email server probably renames the folders in the browser to Dutch. But the folder names are all in English in the 'subscribe' window in Thunderbird, but eventhough they are English in the subscribe window, in the normal view of Thunderbird it shows up like this;

  • INBOX = Postvak IN (Dutch)
  • Drafts = Concepten (Dutch)
  • Sent Items = Sent items (Not translated) Should be Verzonden
  • Spam = Spam (Not translated) Should be Ongewenst
  • Trash can = Prullenbak (Dutch)

So as you can see eventhough they appear in full English in the subscribe window, some of them are in fact translated to Dutch.

And like i said, when i tried this email address on my smartphone in the Samsung mail, all of the folders were also translated to Dutch.

I added the Dutch language and found the same result: folder names are not all translated. All I can suggest is to submit your experience to this bug report:
