Sorry for noise, I thought that it was yet another harmful UI redesign that requires a workaround.

Hmm, are you getting the blue line that indicates where Firefox will add the bookmark? If you move your mouse a bit (left, right, up, down), can you get that line to appear? If so, dropping there should work in Firefox 87. (Testing on Windows...)

Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.
