I used to use a bunch of search plugins at https://mycroftproject.com/, and if one is not availlable there, I made custom search plugins using https://ready.to/search/en/.

However, after updating to Firefox 88, it appears that neither is working any more. It looks as though unless the web site itself offers search plugins, you cannot add them.

This page describes how to add search engines, but doesn't show any other methods than Microft project for customization. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-or-remove-search-engine-firefox

Is there any method left for custom search engines?

Hi Kouichi, the way the site works changed a few months ago.

When you click the link of the search engine you want to add, the site navigates to a new page with instructions to add the search plugin using the Page Actions (•••) menu. Where is this process hanging up for you?

Oh, I haven't tested their page for creating custom search engines. If they didn't update that one, there is an extension you could use for that:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/search-engines-helper/

You only need it enabled for as long as it takes to add the search engines you want and then you can disable it.

I see, thanks!!! I wasn't careful enough to read the instructions, alongside the typo in the title.
