You SLAMMED me with a WHOLLY-unwanted format / appearance change and v.89 - FORCING a switch back to v.88 but, ALSO forced BY you to 'create new profile' - SICK of such STUPIDITY and ABUSIVE, thought-DEVOID practices; much, MUCH harder to distinguish with my eyesight with NO apparent means of ALTERING it and, I am PISSED - an ENORMOUS amount of work to TRY and remember WHICH links were open (over 100 tabs) to say NOTHING of having to RE-SIGN back IN to certain webpages when required - if I'm even ABLE.....

Please respond ASAP.

I'm with you I have no access to my tabs except to CONTROL TAB through all my open tabs and have to wait on some tabs to load so I can pause videos I had on an open tab to watch when I had chance and this whole update is a royal mess! The developer who thought this was a good idea needs to be fired!

How the heck do I access my tabs all I see on the new tab bar is my active tab and I have zero way to manually click the tab I want to open without CONTROL TABBING through them all and i have about 50 tabs open!

And am being kind with my wording here as I am livid!

I DO NOT WANT TO BE FORCED TO UPGRADE. So far, I haven't done so. Does anyone know how to make the message to download the upgrade go away?

Hi ogam5, in another thread you asked:

> 4) Thus: am now asking (once more) how to apply v.88 format appearances to default v.89 platform

There are some temporary preferences to roll back certain of the controversial changes in Firefox 89, but unless new options are added, a longer term solution would involve applying your own style rules to the interface. Here are some basic details:

** Tab Bar Styling**

I can give you a short-term workaround to return to the old look, but a more durable solution will require more work.

Temporary Fix

For testing purposes, there is a preference to switch the tab bar and address bar between new style and old style. This is not expected to continue in Firefox 90, but maybe you want to use it for now.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.proton.enabled and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the preference to switch between true (new style) and false (old style)

Longer Term Community Workaround

This involves setting up a userChrome.css file. I have a rules builder that will get more features throughout the month. By the time the above preference is removed, it should be mature. If you want to take a sneak peek now:

** Menu Items Spacing**

This wider menu item spacing is a feature of the Firefox 89 "Proton" redesign. I can give you a short-term workaround, but a more durable solution will require more work.

Temporary Fix

For testing purposes, there is a preference to switch between new style and old style menus. It helps with the spacing, but might be a tad bit glitchy:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.proton.contextmenus.enabled and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the preference to switch between true (new style) and false (old style)

In my test, the Bookmarks menu on the optional top Menu Bar was messed up in the existing window, but looked okay in a new window. You may need to do a normal shutdown/restart of Firefox to fully apply the change.

Longer Term Community Workaround

This involves setting up a userChrome.css file. The full instructions are in the following thread: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1337841

I'm sure we'll refine that during the course of the month so when the temporary preference is removed, it will be airtight.
