I have google set as my home page, and also on every new tab that opens. But when I open a new tab, the cursor is automatically positioned in the address bar, whereas I want to insert my search terms in the seach box in the middle of the page. How can I stop search terms being written in the address bar? Florio

Thank you, cor-el. I do in fact already use New Tab Override. It does not solve the problem. :-(

You can set browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar = false on the about:config page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
