Never had this problem before and have used Thunderbird/Mozilla for many, many years.

Email came in fine until I shut Thunderbird down around 3pm to do some things that I needed, did a restart as I noticed some issues, not Thunderbird related....

When I came back to Thunderbird several hours later, all of my accounts tell me that the connection to pop.gmail has been reset. Just tried to send an email and get this error: Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com timed out. Try again.

I am very tech savy, so I double check settings and everything is fine, so what happened? Was there an update? Is it on Googles end?

Chosen solution

I checked anti-virus and turned it off for mail and it works, must have been something new they added without my knowledge, as I hadn't touched the settings for anything else. Thank you!

Is the authentication on the POP and SMTP servers OAuth2? What is the antivirus and its settings for the TB profile folder (the folder should be excluded)?
