Plugins & Profile directory
I have tried on windows and on linux, and the same thing happens for both. I don't get the plugins i should have. I want to try and enable java, but its not even appearing in the first place. My profile directory is all messed up as well. I don't have a pluginreg.dat, my extensions.sqlite is an extensions.json. I have been reading all the forums but they mention stuff about the files in the profile, but I don't have those files.

You want to enable java plugin? This technology has been forgotten years ago. We don't support it since 2014 or so.
All Firefox v52+ Releases disables all plugins including Flash Why do Java, Silverlight, Adobe Acrobat and other plugins no longer work? {web link}
Do you mean javascript?

Theres an online game that I am trying to play. It requires java to be installed. Does anyone know a browser/a version I can go to which will work for java?

Websites need to use Java Web Start (i.e. send a special XML file as application/x-java-jnlp-file) to launch a Java application in an external standalone window and can no longer use an applet to open a Java application embedded in a web page.
A Java Web Start JNLP file is basically a XML file that the server sends as application/x-java-jnlp-file and that is opened by the default application for this MIME type (Java Web Start).
Make sure you do not confuse JavaScript and Java as those are different languages. These days games should use HTML means like WebGL, so you can possibly check the Web Console for possible messages.

I know the difference. I am an avid coder and have coded in both Java and Javascript.
I am aware that java is deprecated for security reasons, I was just wondering if there was a browser/version that successfully supported it. I have tried to revert to previous firefox versions; version 53. However, it auto-updated and was not a viable solution.
I think internet explorer is an option, however it redirects to microsoft edge every time I try and use it.

Internet Explorer is about to be retired.
