Hello, I recently backed up all my emails from Outlook to Thunderbird.

1) I want to delete my email account from Outlook, as I am not using the email anymore, but just want to save all of the emails. Once I delete Outlook, will all of my emails remain in Thunderbird?

2) I want to save all of my emails in a folder on my computer, so I can read them without the use of the internet. I created a folder, and copied the emails into the folder. However, when I click on it to open, it uses the Thenderbird program in order to open and read the email. Will you please provide specific instructions on how to create an offline backup of the emails?

Thank you, and have a wonderful day! :)

If you did what you say you did, that is, imported messages from Outlook to Thunderbird, then deleting Outlook will not affect your messages in Thunderbird because Thunderbird and Outlook do not store message data files in the same place. Each has its own separate and independent data storage location.

You already have your messages saved locally (offline) in a folder on your computer. When you click to open the email files, they open in Thunderbird because it is the default program for opening those files. That doesn't mean it's fetching them online. If you want to open those files using a different program such as Notepad, so as to get a sense of accessing them offline, then you can do so using the Open With option in the right-click menu, but why would you want to do that when Thunderbird does the job of decoding and opening those email files just fine?
