I need to know if Thunderbird is an actual email service or does it access email that I already have? I guess the easy way to understand the ? is, do you get an email address that ends in thunderbird.com (or.org)? Also, does thunderbird give or sell email addresses to advertisers?

Just for clarity in case someone else locates this question.

In basic terms......... Thunderbird is an email client. A program that runs on your computer. You can create mail accounts for each email address which you have previously created eg: email addresses with ISP or email addresses with webhosting packages or free email addresses created with eg: gmail

It allows you to see all mail accounts in one view so you do not need to logon to each webmail account via a browser. You can read and send emails from Thunderbird. You can create POP and/or Imap mail accounts. Thunderbird also includes address books and calendar.
