People see my emails with strange characters
I have using Thunderbird Portable for many years. At first I didn’t know the problems described at the end of this post. But started in 2019, I noticed that when people reply to my email or forwarding , I saw strange characters embedded in my original email. Since 2020, I have switched to 3 desktop computers and installed different Thunderbird Portables. This morning my friend called me regarding my email having those strange characters. My husband changed my settings, but it didn’t help during the testing. How to fix those problems?

Are you sending on an AOL/Yahoo/Rogers/Frontier/AT&T smtp server? All of these Yahoo-based services have this issue.

I still have problems with my Thunderbird 78.13.0 (64 bit) because I cannot find the "Config. editor to enforce Quoted Printable encoding (Outlook default)." nor I can find "mail.strictly_mime". I got Tools/Options/General/Fonts & Colors/Advanced/ Other solutions said Outgoing Mail should be "Unicode (UTF-8)" which I already have. Another solution said if it is "Unicode (UTF-8)", change to "Western". But there are 2 Western"--"Western (ISO-8859-1)" and "Western (Windows-1252". I have tried the "Western (ISO-8859-1)" first and then "Western (Windows-1252". Both are not working.
In TB 78, Config. editor is at the very bottom of Tools/Options/General, under Indexing. See attached picture.
I don't think changing the settings in .../Advanced has any effect on the strange characters, but changing the preference to true might help.
