Google searches are occasionally freezing up Firefox and not processing. I'll type in my search, push enter and suddenly my entire desktop will hang, mouse will move slowly and jerk around before regaining full control. Once control is regained, Firefox will no longer respond and must be force closed and relaunched.

It's getting exhausting to the point I've used Edge for searches just to not be bothered.

Let me know what information I can provide to make diagnosis easier. I understand intermittent issues are rough to troubleshoot.

Fred,

The fix in that thread has not changed anything. Anything else I can try?

Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Fred,

I haven't changed anything from before updates. Safe Mode is not an option as some of my workflows require add-ons. This issue is still outstanding and getting more frustrating by the day. I feel like I'm being forced into Chrome at this point and I still have no clue how to troubleshoot the issue beyond the canned responses I'm getting.

Creating a new profile is a quick way to test whether it's your profile or some software. These articles may help. I have omitted troubleshoot mode since you have ruled it out. Problems can arise after updates even without our changing anything. A profile I had used without issue for some years started crashing after I installed version 91.
