We are not going to be able to help much here. Did you have the entry for Firefox labelled in your authenticator app?

No unfortunately i use 3 different ones (Google, Mircosoft abd Norton) and neither indicate which services they are linked too, and neither does Firefox say which one i linked ..... a shortcoming for sure

Using a hint that you recognise when labelling entries in authenticator apps will certainly help with this.

If those are the three you are using, it is likely to be Google Authenticator as the other two are not recommended for Firefox Accounts.
