I recently updated thunderbird. I use it with a @shaw.ca email. I use quickbooks for my business and it's linked to this email. Previously I would go to email a quote or invoice and it would bring up a thunderbird email tab. It no longer does this. I had a tech look at the issue and no matter what he did he couldn't get the email to do what it use to. Is there a fix for this?

If Quickbooks is a 32-bit app, it will only link with TB if TB is also 32-bit. A TB update might have installed the 64-bit version. Help/About TB to see the version.

You are correct. I have QB 2020 and it is 32 bit and the update is 64. Thoughts on how to fix this?

Uninstall TB 64-bit (won't affect data in profile folder), then install 32-bit from here.

Uninstalled and reinstalled the 32 bit but it still won't bring up a thunderbird email window for sending from QB like it use to. Still opens an internal QB window.

A MAPI issue like this can sometimes be fixed with this procedure: run the full 32-bit installer with Advanced options, set TB as the default mail client during setup, do not run TB at the end, restart the computer (important), then see if QB links with TB.

Check or reset also QB's email settings.
