Import passwords from file not working
I am running the latest version of Firefox as of 11/23/22. My main computer is not working (can't get its logon to work) so I am using my tablet which has more or less the same version of Firefox(one week difference). Please don't tell me to copy profile files from the old computer - I can not get on. Nor can I sync for the same reason.
On 11/10, I exported my passwords from Firefox and my bookmarks. The Passwords are in an excel csv file which I can open and read. The bookmarks are in a json file.
I tried to import the passwords after using the config signon solution offered by Boca. Firefox opens the folder and supposedly opens the file, but no passwords are imported. Please tell me how to make this work or fix the bug. I really don't want to cut and paste 300+ passwords.
I also tried to import the bookmarks, but it doesn't seem to have a way to do that.
Please help.
Thank you

Unfortunately, this feature is broken in Firefox 104-107 due to a security-related change. It will start working again in Firefox 108 (scheduled to be released on December 13, 2022).
If you can't wait, a roundabout way to do it would be as follows:
(1) Install the Firefox Developer Edition (based on the beta test version of Firefox 108) alongside your regular Firefox. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/developer/
(2) Connect it to your Firefox Account so you can share data between them using Sync.
(3) Import your logins (you still need to go into about:config to re-enable the menu item).
(4) Wait patiently for Sync to transfer the saved logins to your regular Firefox.
Alternatively, change a preference in about:config to true (and change it back once you have imported). security.allow_eval_in_parent_process
You also need to change this preference to true. signon.management.page.fileImport.enabled
