I am on Firefox version 102. It assures me I am up to date. My credit union insists I must be on version 107 to log in. I was able to download and install version 107, but it gives me a different icon and none of my bookmarks are there. It is like I installed it new rather than upgraded. I have no bookmarks, setting, etc.

I couldn't figure it out. When I did refresh firefox it didn't seem to do anything. Is there a way to upgrade my existing Firefox from 102 to 107 with out downloading an entirely different Firefox with a separate icon.

I had another thought. I realized what I downloaded is a disk. When I click on it, it gives me the option of opening the new Firefox or clicking on a file icon. When I double click on the file icon, I get the Finder Applications page. Do I have to select the Firefox icon in the Applications page to do the upgrade? I'm sorry. I'm OLD. I don't understand these things.

You could have both Firefox 102 and 107 installed.

To make sure you get Firefox 107.x and not 102.x download from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release

In the drop menus make sure Firefox is selected and not Firefox ESR, select macOS if not already selected and then select the language you want.

Why would I want to do that? Is it possible to actually talk to somebody?

Note that 102.5.0 is the current release for the ESR update channel. For the release update channel 107.0.1 is current. See "Help -> About Firefox" and the Application section on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.

The only way to switch the update channel to release is installing the full release version.

This makes absolutely no sense to me. Can I talk to someone please? Dennis Edds [phone# removed from public]

Mozilla like all companies that provide a free to download and use web browser does not have any call centres or such for one on one support by phone, chat or email as it would be too costly to do it for free.

I linked you an article on how to install Firefox on macOS and where you can make sure you download Firefox 107.0 in your preferred language.

So is this going to wipe out all my bookmarks, saved passwords, things sites use to identify me? Will I have two identical icons for Firefox.? Is installing the 107 version equivalent to an upgrade? Why can't Firefox just upgrade me to 107 like they automatically upgraded me to 102.5 lately? Why are none of the support docs comprehensible to a person of average intelligence but no particular technical knowhow?

Different update channels means different apps and user data. Your 102.5 ESR is up to date and should be accepted by every bank. 102.5 ESR is equivalent to (the same as) 107.0.

To access your user data in 107, enter about:profiles in the address bar. There should be two or more profiles. Just click the Launch profile in new browser button under a non-default profile.

Thank you so much for the explanation. When I go to about:profiles on the 107 version I see the profile in use on another application, which is I think the one I want. It does not have Launch profile in new browser option. It does have Set this as default profile. Is that what I want?

more options

You can click it later. Is 102.5 open? Try to close it and check about:profiles again.

102.5 was closed when I did this. I'm thinking I'll just set up the Credit Union on 107, since they insist on it, and run the rest off of 102.5 unless that's not a good idea.

more options

That's the best option, I guess. Separate browser for banking is an additional layer of security.

more options

I was actually able to create a copy of 107 with my profiles in it, but it goes away everytime I restart the computer. Also when I launch the 102.5 version, I get a warning message.

If you have used your 102 profile with 107 then Firefox won't allow to downgrade the profile and run it once again with your 102 ESR version. If you intention was to keep both 102 and 107 Firefox versions then you should have created a new profile for 107 and possibly use Sync or transfer personal data directly from the 102 profile to the 107 profile.

Firefox 67 and newer use a dedicated profile for each Firefox installation and lock this profile to prevent other Firefox installations from using this profile.

Don't plan to use the 102 version any more.
