I had this Problem several times.

I have set my browser to restore the last Sessen when reopening. Sometimes i am a bit stupid and am not closing my main window with many tabs and my pinned taps for mail, contacts, ... which i regularly need

Aaaand sometimes the "Chronik" (History) for recently closed Windows is empty, nothing opens in the sub menu and i have to manually recreate all my pinned tabs. And this is super annoying.

Today i returned to my pc. I opened firefox and I have seen that only my window with youtube and video streaming has reopened and i failed to restore the important window because nothing appeared in the sub menu.

Maybe you can help me. I like firefok but always restoring my pinned tabs is super annoying.

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox Title bar, especially if you have multiple windows open to prevent losing tabs in unnoticed windows.

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit

You can check whether "Restore Previous Session" and "History -> Recently Closed Windows/Tabs" are available (i.e. not grayed).

Yes, i closed it on windows with the x in the top right corner.

Yesterday i had a Window open with 3 old tabs and have closed my big window with some pinned tabs and maybe +100 Tabs and unfortunately didnt notice that the 3 tab window was still in the background.

I ended up with the 3 tab window and couldnt restore my old window i closed seconds before.

On top i noiticed on some other evenings, that when im putting my "video tab" back to my big window and then close it, ofthen on the next day it resores this tab with some pages earlier in its history

Typically this tooolbar isn't viewable and it doesnt prevent me from accidentially closing the window and loosing all

Recently closed windows is not greyed out, but there is no sub menu opening when that happens

As far as it seems like i'm the only one with this problem and no dev works on this problem i will switch to vivaldi. I know firefox comes free of charge, i've been using it for decades and doesnt want to loose market share to chromium, but i havn't the time to fix it nor the knowledge
