I have been using Firefox as my default browser in Windows for a number of years without problems until recently. However I now find that, when I log on to sites where I have accounts, I am not automatically signed in. When I select sign in I am taken to a sign-in page where, on some accounts, , my usernames and passwords are already filled in. I have tried following Firefox guidelines with regard to settings and options, all to no avail. Can you assist me please.

Updates of security software or (an) extension(s) may have caused the change. Try restarting in troubleshoot mode to test extensions and/or disabling security software.

Can you give an example of a website where this happens? Once you go through the sign-in process on a specific site are you then permanently logged-in, or do you have to repeat the sign-in process every time you visit that site?

When I want to log on to, for example, the BBC and the FT websites, I am required to sign in each time I visit the sites. This was never needed until recently. I am then taken to another screen where my username is shown but my password is a series of dots. I am then required to click on another "sign in" to get to the site, though without having to fill in my password. However, at another website, "Base Bridge Online" I am required to insert both my username and password each time I visit. I do keep the OS, Windows 10, and security patches, up-to-date. As a comment, I wish to add that I find all the support information given within Firefox very confusing. This is why I am having to resort to contacting community support. Failing all else, I will try re-starting in troubleshooting mode. Thank you for your responses.

Hello Dropa, The fact is, someting has changed. Until very recently, when I clicked on the desktop icons for these accounts I was taken directly to the websites and into my accounts. It maybe something I have done or it may not. I need to get things back to how they were. Regards.

Don't clear cookies for sites you want to stay logged in or create cookie exceptions. If the site has a "Remember me" checkbox on the login page, make sure it is ticked.

Does it still happen with all your extensions disabled?

Thanks all. Troubleshooter did the job with no help from me.
