Unable to setup email address

more options

Hi,

I'm trying to setup Thunderbird.

I have amended the DNS records for my domain to allow for auto-configuration. But when I enter my email and password, TB is unable to configure my account.

I have also tried configuring manually by entering the details given by my email hosting provider. But I get a message that TB failed to find the settings for my email account.

For a short period of time, I was getting a green light on clicking the re-test button (that the settings had been found). But when clicking 'done', I would then get the message "Component returned failure code: 0×80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIMsgAccountManager.createlncomingServer]".

But, at the moment, TB is back to saying it can't find the settings for my email account.

Are there any suggestions as to how I can overcome this problem.

Mark

I think you need to open the account settings instead of the new account wizard and have a look at how many non functioning accounts you have created.

I am only guessing, but I think the account managers failure to create an incoming server may be strongly related to it already existing in the account manager. Probably with the same name.

Thanks for your suggestion, Matt.

I don't think this is it as I'm working with a fresh installation of TB as a possible alternative to Mail. So there are currently no other accounts - functioning or otherwise!

I probably should have mentioned that my email hosting provider is mailbox.org. The settings I'm using (which those recommended by mailbox.org) are:

host: imap.mailbox.org port: 993 sec: SSL/TLS auth: normal password

host: smtp.mailbox.org port: 465 sec: SSL/TLS auth: normal password.
