installed Ubuntu 2404 on my acer laptop along with Thunderbird, added gmail email to Thunderbird and it fails to connect to google for their security check.

I have been through this google process with Thunderbird 3 times windows 10 and 11 and once on an android phone with no problems

yep, uninstalled the version that came with ubuntu now. installed the latest Thunderbird nightly version 128.0a1 form bugzilla and it works with gmail fine. Just have to open it from downloads folder, not visible in the apps. Cheers paul
