I'm trying to follow the Mozilla instructions to move my profile to a new PC. I started copying the profile to a new (empty) 128 Gb flashdrive. Partway through, I got an error message that there wasn't enough room to copy my 9 Gb Inbox. I'd be very grateful if you can tell me how to fix this problem. Thanks!

If this is an IMAP account, you can delete the message folder as it will repopulate after being copied. I suggest you revisit the size of the profile itself for total size. Copying files is not related to thunderbird, so something else seems to be involved here.
