I am being inundated with alerts saying firefox has been compromised & viruses have been detected. They want me to click on various links which I won't do of course. I am about ready to uninstall Firefox altogether. Hate to do since I will lose everything. Please help!

Are these small popups on bottom corner? if so then they may be web push notifications from sites you have allowed to send notifications. Unfortunately they may appear as fake virus alerts or McAfee alerts or such from some sites. You can revoke these sites.
