Why is firefox no longer committing to not selling user's data?
Hi,
I saw that firefox deleted all of its language about not selling user data and that has me concerned. I chose to use firefox in a large part because I did not want my data to be sold and this change has me preparing to change browsers this week. Can you please offer a thorough explanation about why firefox is going back on a policy that it once claimed it "never have and never will"? How is my data being used, sold, and profited off of by firefox with this change? Is there a way for me to opt out of my data being sold?

Mozilla is not selling users private data like some have misinterpreted. You can also control whether to send the little data that is sent or not also. Mozilla had to make a terms of use for Firefox for the first time.

TL;DR Mozilla doesn’t sell data about you (in the way that most people think about “selling data”), and we don’t buy data about you. We changed our language because some jurisdictions define “sell” more broadly than most people would usually understand that word. Firefox has built-in privacy and security features, plus options that let you fine-tune your data settings.
