I detest icons, had pure text but suddenly have icons and lost back/forward in my tool/task bars
After switching from Chrome to Firefox to use some extensions, I found I could get rid of all the icons and have text alone to my great delight. Suddenly this weekend I have lost the normal browser back/forward and all of my text-only labels and have rows of icons mixed with text; I cannot find the menu that first enabled the text-only option and sorely miss it.

View>Toolbars>Customise select text,
- If items are missing then see if you can find them in the View > Toolbars > Customize window.
- If you see the item in the Customize window then drag it back from the Customize window to the Navigation toolbar.
- If you do not see that item then click the Restore Default Set button in the View > Toolbars > Customize window.
At first I could not get rid of a lot of the icons, but finally got the top cleared except for one in front of "mozilla.com" and 3 in its accompanying window + 3 additional in its drop down.
Another bar at the bottom of my screen only has icons and often do not pop-up their identification or function
