Firefox doesn't crash but when I close down it leaves a message saying that it has and asks for my e-mail address fior a reply when it knows the answer. Is this genuine?

A shutdown crash is still a crash and can be bad for various reasons.

The most common cause of a crash on exit or improper shutdown is extensions.

Please see the article on Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems to see if an extension is at fault.

For us to look at your crash report, submit a crash report (email address is optional), then:

  1. Go to about:crashes in the Location Bar.
  2. Copy the blue links (beginning with bp-) and paste them here.
