How can I keep the favicons in the bookmark toolbar from resetting to blank pages after closing and restarting Firefox?

I only use favicons in the toolbar -- no text. In this version the favicons reset. In an older version of Firefox that I never updated, the favicons always stayed put and never changed.

Are you using Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear any items on exit?

Are you running Firefox in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode ?

Yes to both. I never keep any history. And I am in private browsing mode, altho I don't really know what that is.

You can try to keep some items. I don't know which you would need to keep. Firefox won't reload favicons in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode, so you won't get them back once the favicons are gone.
