What is purpose of getting rid of cookies if I am only user?

Everytime I use link to access information to specific website, I get this message: HTTP Error 400. The request is badly formed. The company, via email, said: Open Firefox Click on the Tools menu Select Clear Recent History Set Time range to clear to Everything Click on the arrow next to Details to expand the list of history items Select Cookies and Cache, making sure you don't select items you want to keep Click Clear Now to clear the cookies and close the Clear Recent History window When I click on link in Outlook Express, I still get error message (see above). I am very confused. Fix doesn't fix anything; I don't see purpose of doing any of that. Thanks so much.

Cookies sometimes get corrupted and no longer work properly. In such a case you need to clear the cookies from a website.

  • "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
  • "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

I have had cookies on my computer since the 90s and have never experienced this problem before. I always clear the cache. While cookies may get corrupted, this particular site is the only one that I have ever experienced problems with (see details above). I tried your suggestions; unfortunately I still receive same error message: HTTP Error 400. The request is badly formed.

Why not ask "the company" why the recommended that action to solve your problem?

Thanks for your response. I realize this is piecemeal, but here's the email from company, Paula Begoun: Some of our visitors who use the Firefox browser are having trouble accessing our website, especially when they click the links in our emails. We are sorry for the inconvenience. [Suggested fix: see above.] For more information, you can visit Firefox's help site: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Deleting%20cookies. Which I did. It contained virtually same information as contained in Begoun "fix". So, I'm guessing there has been some conversation between Firefox/Mozilla and Paula Begoun.

Do you still get that error if you copy the link in OE and paste the link in the Firefox location bar?
