firefox not caching youtube videos

how do i set my history settings so youtube videos are cached? i have my cache set to 500mb and its not cleared when firefox closes, however when i reopen firefox and watch the same video it has to redownload it. the video only stays in cache for the current session. I use custom settings for history, and only accept cookies and accept 3rd party cookies are selected.
