How do I set new tabs to be blank. Yahoo configured it to show their search engine (against my wishes).

New tabs used to be blank - that's what I want.

However, another user on this computer did a software download. I've removed all the software, but now on firefox, whenever a new tab is opened, it defaults to a yahoo search engine. If I can't get it blank again, I'd rather have the google page.

This will be due to and add-on that was installed.

  1. Open the Firefox add-ons manager (In the Tools menu select Add-ons)
  2. In the Extensions panel look for net assistant, MyFreeze, freeze.com or simppull toolbar. If any are present click on them to select them, then click on Uninstall
  3. Restart Firefox to complete the process

If none of those are present, you need to check for other variations of this add-on. For details on how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
