While using Firefox 4.0 RC, on Vista Business platform, the program keeps unexpectedly freezing. It usually does so while loading a page, but it is never the same page, and it will even freeze while in Panorama. When the program starts acting up it just keeps cycling, like its waiting for a connection or something, until I click on the window, in which case the top bar says Firefox is not responding. The thing is not generating crash reports. Whenever I tell the frozen window to close, I just get asked if I want to close the program or wait for it to respond, which it never does.

Do you have McAfee Site Advisor installed, that extension has been causing problems with Firefox freezing particularly with search sites. If you have it try disabling it to see if Firefox works. You can also try installing the latest version (3.3.1) of the Site Advisor, that one should work.

Mozilla are planning on blocking older versions of McAfee Site Advisor in Firefox 4 due to the problems they cause.

I do not have McAfee Site Advisor installed. I have also had partial success in restoring stability by disabling the following plugins:

Shockwave for Director

Silverlight

Java Deployment Kit

Firefox is crashing less, but it still decides to quit working at random intervals.

I seem to have restored even more stability by disabling the Next Generation Java. The program is responsive over longer periods of time, and has only crashed a few times, due to other processes running on my computer, so Firefox may be working.
