I have a Hp laptop and it came with a fingerprint scanner which uses HP Simplepass. I have read that they wont support firefox 4 or any further explorers, can firefox help with this so I can use it properly?

No guarantees, but you may be able to get it working by using the Fingerfox (SE) add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/fingerfox-se

Yes I have tried that one so far and I had no luck it doesn't do much. How about a link for firefox 3.6 until firefox 4 can sort that out.

It will probably never work in Firefox 4 as the company have abandoned it and will not be updating it anymore.

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.

You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.

To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Well that does make me very sad cause I liked the look of firefox 4 and the speed, but I like the finger swipe to log in to my sites. Your suggestion was very helpful thank you.
