My Most Visited List is empty and remains so, no matter how often I visit the same websites

This has only happened since I updated to Firefox 4.0. I go to the same sites repeatedly, and so far none of them show up in the Most Visited dropdown list.

Sorry, I misunderstood you then. You said all the other options were checkmarked. I assumed you meant those in my screenshot.

If you hit CTRL+H and change the "View" to "Most Visited", do they appear in there?

What about Last Visited? Do they show? If nothing shows, go to Tools | Options | Privacy and make sure "Permanent Private Browsing mode" isn't checkmarked.

I don't disbelieve you but can you check again? I've attached a screenshot to show you where it appears by default.

Okay, I had to switch to Custom Settings to reveal the menu shown in your attachment. Private Browsing is not checked. All of the other options are.

if you have the bottom one checkmarked i.e. "Clear history when Firefox closes" then that's why there's no history to display.
