Are you sure it's not at the right end of the URL box? The little curly arrow?

Firefox 4.0 has a combined Reload/Stop/Go button that is positioned at the far right of the URL/Location/Address bar. It will change:

  • when typing in the URL/Location/Address bar or when in a new blank tab, you will see the Go button; right pointing arrow on a green background
  • when a page is loading you will see an "X" on a red background
  • after a page is loaded, you will see the Reload button; circular clockwise arrow

In Firefox 4.0 you can move the Stop/Reload buttons out of the URL/Location/Address bar and put them wherever you want on the toolbar. You can also make them appear outside of the URL/Location/Address bar

  • as separate buttons on the toolbar, or
  • as a combined Stop/Reload button
  1. Open the Customize Toolbar window:
    • Firefox button > Options > Toolbar Layout
    • If using the Menu Bar, View > Toolbars > Customize
  2. the buttons will show separately outside and to the right of the URL/Location Address bar while the Customize Toolbar window is open
  3. While the Customize Toolbar window is open, you can:
    • Swap the two buttons or move them to any position on the toolbar.
    • If the order is "Reload - Stop" you will get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
    • Swap the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise (like dragging a "Separator" or "Space" from the Customize Toolbar window between them) to get two distinct buttons.
    • If you move the buttons to or leave the buttons on the right end of the URL/Location/Address bar in the order Reload-Stop, the will be combined into the single Reload/Stop/Go button on the right end of the URL/Location/Bar when the Customize Toolbar window is closed.
  4. When done, click "Done" at the bottom right of the Customize Toolbar window.
