I set Firefox>Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Network>Settings to 'no proxy', but I am unable to connect to the net.

I use Fedora 14 on my laptop. Because I live in China, I contracted a VPN service, Astrill. I do not start Astrill on boot. If I boot, and start Firefox, I am unable to connect to the net. 'proxy server is refusing connections'. I go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Network>Settings and click 'no proxy'. I am still unable to connect. Even if I shut Firefox down, then restart, I cannot connect. If I start Astrill, then click 'no proxy' I can connect. But on boot, I am unable to connect without Astrill started. Why won't Firefox listen to me, when I tell it after booting 'no proxy'?? Some .config file is active here. Where??

Thanks for reading, Peter
