I am loading a newly formatted drive with Firefox 4. I saved my old bookmarks, using my previous Firefox browser, in a JSON file on a separate drive, but when I attempt to restore them under Import and Backup/Restore/Choose File, nothing happens after I get the message that "this will replace all existing bookmarks."

Make sure that the JSON backup has a .json file extension. You can verify that via the right-click context menu > Properties.

If that is the case or you still have problems then try to delete places.sqlite in the Firefox Profile Folder
