when I open a new tab it shows the old ones that I have closed how do i fix this

when i am in one website & I control t to open a new tab & I hit the home button all my old tabs reopen how do I fix this so I dont keep closing out unnecessary tabs also the tabs are there each time i open firefox

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).

If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.
