Internal disc crashed, I saved the entire content incl. Firefox bookmarks. I put a new disc into the laptop, installed the WindowsXP and a new Firefox. I have now the old Bookmarks file on the desktop. I want to add this old file to the new Firefox Bookmarks. How to do it?

Please see Recover important data from an old profile - what you need is to copy the places.sqlite file from your old profile folder on the backup to your new one on the PC.
Please let us know whether this works for you.
No way. I have not saved the old Firefox profile, from the crashed disc I saved only the Firefox bookmarks in a folder, this folder is stored now on my desktop. In this folder are all my bookmarks but I do not have any ,,places.sqlite,, file! I can copy only the entire folder with right click but where to put it? If I copy this folder into the new Firefox profile, my old bookmarks does not appear under the new Firefox Bookmarks! Why?
Hi,
I'm sorry the first reply didn't exactly help. This is caused by that I don't know what you have.
What file format do you have now? Can you please describe the contents of the folder that you have for me to give you a helpful response?
Thank you.
Hi Gryllida,
I have a simple folder on my desktop, this folder contains all of my old Firefox favorites, partly sorted into another folders - like ,,Travel,, ,,Investment,, ,,Brokers,, etc...... and partly simple unsorted url-s (webaddresses) of sites which were of my interest. As I installed the new Firefox some weeks ago, since I also collected some new ,,Bookmarks,, actualy unsorted but I wish to add to this new list just the old ones! But all old ones are sitting in a folder on my desktop. I am not a pro and could not find out how to put the old ones into the new ,,Bookmarks,,!
