Why does the programme always come up on the desktop?

The last two updates have installed on the Mac desktop and produce an ident every time the program is launched. I moved the program to Applications but it still does the same. I don't need it in two places. How can I stop it appearing on the desktop and prevewnt the ident from opening every time?'
