I want remember history in my privacy setting instead of use custom setting which I have now. I went and changed it but when I close it and open it again, the use custom setting is back on. It doesn't go away no matter how many times I repeat the same action.

Are you clicking O.K. at the bottom of the page?

I have done it several times and every time I close it and open it again it comes back to the use custom settings. I don't know why the remember history doesn't stay

I think the page could be set up a little differently but, with "Custom Settings", don't check "Permanent Private Browsing", then check "Remember my browsing history" and check others(downloads, search) as you wish, then O.K.

This should achieve what you want.

Choosing the "Use custom settings for history" setting doesn't make any changes.
The "Use custom settings for history" setting is only an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings are not the default to make you aware that you made changes.
Only if all History settings are default then you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History" and the custom settings are hidden.

How can I have all History settings as default?
