If I open an HTML doc from my local computer, the TITLE tag is displayed in the TAB. If I open the same doc from a website (wildechef.com specifically) the web address is displayed. What am I missing here?

Other pages I have seem to be OK

Which tab settings are you referring to that are missing in current Firefox versions?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

What do missing TAB settings have to do with my question?

i think you should update your Firefox version. Right now Firefox 3.6.19 and Firefox 5.0.x are the only Stable & Still Maintained Firefox versions.

3.6.19 - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html 5.0.x - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

-> Installing Firefox on Windows

-> Update ALL your Firefox Plug-ins

Check and tell if its working.

At last test, FF has removed most of the TAB settings, specifically MinWidth and MaxWidth. I rely on setting the widths of my tabs. Have these been added back into 5.0?

And what would have caused my initial problem? What changed to make it go away? I usually question the responses that simply say "upgrade and see if that helps" anyway.

No, those prefs are gone from Firefox 4+ versions. You need to use CSS for setting your preferences for tab widths.

Firefox 3.6 still uses the same tab prefs that 3.5.3 did. There was no 3.4 version.
