The text insertion point in my Firefox will flash anywhere there is text and not solely in a text field/prompt. If I click on any text anywhere within a page it will appear. It is very annoying. This will not happen in Safari.

You may have switched on caret browsing.

You can press press F7 (on Mac: fn + F7) to toggle caret browsing on/off.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced : General: Accessibility: [ ] "Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages"
