Why did it force me to upgrade?

Can someone tell me why firefox force me to upgrade to 6.0 when I needed and wanted to stay with 3.0 because of digital persona 4.0 finger print login software which only has an addon at this point only for mozilla firefox 3 and the fact that it seems like every month it jumps from 5 to 6 ect..

I didn't want the upgrade in the first place .. this time when I loaded it.. it automatically updated the software without my permission and my computer keeps crashing because of it..

I don't want 5 or 6 I don't care how much better people want it to be its NOT what i want and I did not give it permission to upgrade in the first place!

How do I return back to 3? and why did the software force me to upgrade?

Here's a place you can download the previous versions of Firefox:

Download the version you want and install it. Downgrading your browser is just like upgrading it.

The next time you run your browser you have to disable automatic updates. To do so:

Tools > Options > Advanced > Update

And there you can uncheck the Firefox or select to inform you before upgrading.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Don't forget that the previous versions might have security problems. For the latest security updates you MUST upgrade to latest version. That's what I STRONGLY recommend. If you really want to downgrade, the recommended version is 3.6.21. Thank you for paying attention!
