Firefox Crashes Randomly – v7.0.1. Windows 7 Pro 32bit, SP1, Fully Updated – recently reinstalled OS. Flash, Java, etc, all fully updated. All plugins updated. All drivers fully updated. AVG Free edition – fully updated, scans for viruses daily. Malwarebytes installed and recently scanned for spyware/malware, no problems found. All add-ons and extensions fully updated. Manually disabled all add-ons, still crashed.

Starting Firefox in safe mode seems to have alleviated the crashing but completely defeats the purpose of why I use it in the first place.

This has been an ongoing problem since shortly after FF 4 was released and I have resorted to using a portable version of FF 3.6 which has been the most stable.

It seems the crashes occur more often when there are numerous tabs open at the same time

Doesn’t matter what website I’m on, it randomly crashes at any given point in time

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
