I am currently running an older version of firefox on windowsXP and wish to update to the latest version of firefox. When I clicked on the download icon for 7.0.1 it states that I have chosen to open the folder (which is a binnary file) and asks if I want to save it. How do I change from "opening and saving the file" to just "updating" to the latest version. Thanks in advance

Just download the file to your desktop -> close Firefox -> Run Installer -> Open Firefox and you'll be running the latest version.

There is currently no automatic update from 3.6.23 to 7.0.1. There will be one shortly, so you can wait or follow the instructions above.
